As an experienced platform engineer, Chaance realized that he needed to take an extra step to keep accelerating his career.
As documented by Chaance Graves
One of my responsibilities as a Xeon platform applications engineer is to manage labs for Intel in California. Lab management requires a solid knowledge of IT skills and infrastructure operations. We deploy several applications and services in our lab and configure systems. We have a small infrastructure team and encounter numerous issues in our labs due to staff shortages. These include automation challenges, configuring systems, and shipping products to customers. Fortunately, I have the skills to resolve problems that arise, and I have the trust of management. I decided to upskill myself with Simplilearn to expand my talents and apply my newfound knowledge to solve actual workplace problems. I come from a hardware background and although I have software industry exposure to disciplines like programming and web design, I lacked some of the skills my colleagues possessed.
Staying Current with Continuous Learning
I have a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Texas A&M University and have worked with Intel for the past five years. During this time, I realized the importance of DevOps infrastructure and staying up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry.
Simplilearn offers the Post Graduate Program in DevOps in collaboration with the California Institute of Technology’s Center for Technology and Management Education (Caltech CTME). I looked at different programs with other universities, but I wanted a course that would provide ample knowledge and the badge of a reputed university. I was also looking for an online course as I was not ready for a traditional study format. So, when I saw Simplilearn’s course, I liked the curriculum and the course in association with Caltech.
