Introduction

Throughout my career, I have been deeply passionate about helping students shape their futures—whether in grade school, high school, or the workforce. My journey began in teaching and program director roles, where I worked closely with students and educators to create meaningful learning experiences. Seeking to make a broader impact, I transitioned into education consulting, where I could influence educational programs on a national scale. Along the way, I had the privilege of working with remarkable leaders who not only shaped my professional growth but also enabled me to assist administrators in developing innovative alternative programs that cater to diverse learning needs.

Reason to Upskill

As a lifelong learner and problem-solver, I started noticing critical gaps in the EdTech and Instructional Services industries. I saw opportunities to improve digital products and virtual services offered to schools and organizations, but without formal training, I found it challenging to transition into roles that required a blend of business strategy, market intelligence, and product development expertise. While hands-on experience helped me develop practical skills, I realized I needed structured learning to bridge silos and create holistic strategies that drive innovation. Given my busy schedule and financial constraints, pursuing another degree wasn’t an option. Instead, I sought a hands-on, industry-relevant program that would provide me with the tools to immediately apply my skills across various sectors. This led me to Simplilearn’s program in collaboration with UC San Diego, which offered exposure to industries beyond education, including banking, tech, security, data analysis, retail, and hospitality.

Experience with the Program

Enrolling in this program was a transformative experience. It provided me with a comprehensive understanding of product management, covering key areas such as coding, analytics, and UX/UI design—skills that are essential for companies striving to enhance their products and marketing strategies. The UC San Diego Product Management program stood out the most because of its interactive nature. Instead of passive learning through lectures, we engaged in group projects and tackled real-world problems, just as product managers do in their daily roles. Our trainer, James Rowe, played a pivotal role in this learning journey, offering valuable insights on navigating challenges, adapting to market shifts, and implementing strategies that drive product success.

Impact and Future Goals

Completing the program has opened new doors in my career. I have been assigned to new projects that allow me to apply my skills more effectively, and I am actively exploring opportunities within my career niche. Looking ahead, my goal is to continue leveraging my expertise in EdTech, product management, and business analysis to solve real-world problems and create sustainable solutions. I am excited to help teams optimize efficiency, enhance customer retention, and develop long-term strategies that drive product success. Beyond work, I remain committed to lifelong learning, volunteering for upskilling initiatives, and advocating for inclusivity. With a passion for photography, astrophotography, and data visualization, I find joy in exploring new perspectives—both in my career and personal life.
