What is the exam retake policy for Microsoft certifications?

For all Microsoft Azure certification exams, the below-mentioned criteria are applicable for re-taking the exam:

  1. If you don’t pass an exam the first time, you must wait 24 hours before retaking it
  2. A 14-day waiting period is imposed between all subsequent attempts (up to 5)
  3. You may not take a given exam more than five (5) times within a 12-month period from the first attempt. If you failed the exam 5 times, you’ll be eligible to retake it 12 months from the date of your first attempt
  4. You cannot retake an exam you’ve passed unless your Certification has expired
  5. You must pay to retake the exam (if applicable)

Do Azure certifications expire?

Microsoft Azure Certifications have different expiration policies. Depending on the level of certifications, each certification type has a custom expiration policy:

  1. Microsoft fundamentals Certifications do not expire. This includes the AZ 900 certification.
  2. Microsoft role-based (associate and expert) and specialty Certifications are valid for one (1) year from the date that you complete all requirements to earn that Certification. These certifications include AZ 104 and AZ 305 courses.
